Dove Park offers public boat access to Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, a constant-level reservoir in the Highland Haven area of Burnet County. The ramp is conveniently located near Highway 2147 on Wirtz Dam Road, between Bay Marine and LBJ Marina, making it one of the two main public launch points on the lake. The protected cove location provides a sheltered entry point with docking facilities nearby, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats alike.
Before launching, be aware of current water conditions and hazards. The lake has experienced algae blooms in the past, so check LCRA (Lower Colorado River Authority) advisories before your trip. Additionally, zebra mussels have invaded this reservoir, so follow aquatic invasive species protocols by cleaning and drying your equipment. The lake maintains a relatively constant water level, making access generally reliable, though it's worth confirming current conditions with local marinas before your visit. Several additional smaller public ramps are available in nearby Granite Shoals if needed.
