About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Firemen's Eddy is a paved boat ramp located off River Road (Route 29), approximately 1.8 miles south of the Lambertville/New Hope bridge in West Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, NJ. The site provides access to the Delaware River, the largest free-flowing river in the eastern United States.

**Important Cautions & Permits:** **Caution—rapids are present immediately downstream from a wing dam at this location.** All paddlers and boaters should be aware of hazardous conditions before launching. Daily or annual launch permits are required and can be purchased at the Bulls Island Main Office (2185 Daniel Bray Highway, Stockton, NJ 08859) or by calling 609-397-2949. The Delaware River at this location is a major river system with an average flow of approximately 30,140 cubic feet per second and an average velocity of 3.11 feet per second, so paddlers should be experienced in handling moderate current conditions.

**River Character:** The Delaware River in this section flows through forests, farmlands, and villages as part of the Lower Delaware National Wild and Scenic River. With an average gradient of 2.7 feet per mile, this section requires attention to water conditions, especially given the rapid hazards immediately downstream of the ramp.
