About This Access Site
East Chub Lake is a 62-acre lake located 4 miles north and 12 miles west of Isabella in Lake County. The public boat access features an earthen ramp on the east shore along State Highway 1, with parking available for approximately three vehicles. The lake has a maximum depth of nine feet, making it suitable for shallow-draft boats and ideal for kayaking and canoeing.

This access point provides a convenient entry to explore East Chub Lake and the surrounding backcountry. If you're interested in extended trips, a backcountry campsite is available on nearby Norway Lake (accessible by water), operated on a first-come, first-served basis with basic amenities including a fire grate and latrine. Several reservable campgrounds—including Little Isabella River, McDougal Lake, and Birch Lake Campgrounds—are located within 10 miles if you're planning a multi-day paddling adventure in the area.
