East Pittman Creek Landing is a boat ramp facility located in a park on a small bluff overlooking the Choctawhatchee River, just south of Highway 2 on the east bank near Bonifay. The site features a long, steep single-lane concrete ramp. **Note: Verify current access status before visiting, as the ramp has experienced periodic closures.** Water levels can significantly affect usability—the ramp becomes very shallow during low water periods, so check conditions before launching, especially during drought or dry seasons.
The Choctawhatchee River is a major river system (Stream Order 8) flowing 142 miles to the Gulf of Mexico with an average flow of approximately 7,755 cubic feet per second. The river maintains a gentle average gradient of 1.1 feet per mile, making it suitable for a variety of paddlers and motorboats. Current velocities average around 2.8 feet per second. This section of the river offers a scenic paddling experience through the Florida Panhandle, with access to nearly 140 miles of downstream paddling toward the gulf.
