About This Access Site
The Ecorse Municipal Boat Launch provides convenient public access to the Detroit River in Ecorse, Wayne County. This recently renovated ramp is well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore the lower Detroit River. The facility has been upgraded to improve usability and accommodate increased waterfront activity in the area.

The Detroit River is a major waterway connecting Lakes Huron and Erie, characterized by moderate current and generally calm conditions suitable for various paddling skills. Launch from Ecorse to explore the lower river section, which flows through an urban-industrial landscape with some natural areas. The nearby Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge—North America's only international wildlife refuge—offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities for paddlers. Be prepared for river traffic, including commercial and recreational vessels, and check current conditions before launching.

The ramp is centrally located among several downriver communities (Detroit, River Rouge, Wyandotte, and Trenton), making it a practical starting point for day trips or longer paddles. Nearby amenities in Ecorse support visitors before and after your water activities.
