This is a convenient launch site for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters looking to explore the scenic waters of Lake Barkley and the Cumberland River area. The facility is part of the larger Barkley Lake recreation area and provides straightforward water access in Eddyville.

From this launch, paddlers can explore several small and mid-sized bays, with a popular north route leading through Land Between the Lakes toward Kuttawa Landing Camping Area—a paddling trip requiring approximately 2 hours.
