About This Access Site
The Elbert County Park boat ramp provides direct access to the scenic Savannah River and the expansive Lake Richard B. Russell. This is a popular launching site for kayakers, canoeists, and small recreational boats.

The ramp is located within the Richard B. Russell State Park system, which offers a range of amenities and recreation opportunities around the 26,650-acre lake. The river and lake in this area are relatively wide and calm, making for pleasant paddling and boating. Anglers will find excellent fishing for bass, crappie, and other species.

Paddlers should be aware that the Savannah River can have strong currents in some areas, so proper safety precautions are advised. There is no fee to use the boat ramp, but amenities like restrooms may have limited availability. Boaters should check the water levels and any potential ramp closures before visiting, as the Army Corps of Engineers manages the reservoir's operations.
