About This Access Site
Located in Maple Hill, Cook County, the Elbow Lake boat ramp provides public access to this scenic 1,695-acre lake with a maximum depth of 60 feet. This launch point serves paddlers, anglers, and boaters looking to explore the lake's productive waters or access backcountry camping opportunities. The ramp is situated on the east side of the lake and is a first-come, first-served facility.

Paddlers should note that Elbow Lake is part of the Timber-Frear Canoe Route and offers four backcountry sites accessible by boat. If you're planning to camp, familiarize yourself with backcountry regulations: hang food packs, fully extinguish fires before leaving your site, treat or boil drinking water, and wash dishes and yourself away from the lake. Each backcountry site includes a fire grate, latrine, and may have a picnic table. Two Island Lake Campground is located within 10 miles for those seeking alternative lodging.
