Elephant Lake (Southeast)

Located on the southeast corner of 728-acre Elephant Lake in Camp 5 Township, this public boat ramp provides straightforward access to this scenic Saint Louis County water body. To reach the launch, turn north off Highway 601 onto a gravel road, cross Elephant Creek, and look for parking on the right side. The lake's maximum depth of 30 feet and moderate size make it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats up to approximately 12-18 feet.

This is a no-fee public access point, making it a convenient option for paddlers exploring the area or anglers targeting the lake's trout and bass populations. The southeast location offers a good departure point for exploring different sections of the lake. As with many northern Minnesota accesses, conditions can vary seasonally, so paddlers should be prepared for typical inland lake conditions and check water levels before launching.
