Elkhorn Crossing Recreation Area is a 27-acre public-access site located near 252nd Street and Bennington Road in Valley, offering convenient boat launch access to the Old Channel Rawhide Creek-Elkhorn River system. The facility features a dedicated boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and other small watercraft, making it an ideal put-in point for float trips and paddling adventures. The park is one of three canoe access areas managed by the Papio-Missouri River NRD along the Elkhorn River in Douglas County.
Beyond water access, the recreation area provides excellent amenities for extended visits, including ten RV sites with electrical and water hookups, a campground, restroom facilities, picnic areas, and a small playground. The park maintains a glass-free policy for safety and environmental protection. This combination of launch facilities and overnight camping options makes Elkhorn Crossing a convenient base for paddlers planning multi-day trips or families wanting to enjoy river recreation without traveling far from the Omaha area.
