About This Access Site
**Location & Access**
The Persimmon Hill boat ramp provides access to Enid Lake on the Yocona River in northeast Mississippi, located just off I-55 near Pope (Exit 233). The ramp is part of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility alongside the Persimmon Hill Campground. A $5 per vehicle ramp fee applies. From I-55, take County Road 36 south across the dam, then turn onto County Road 34 and follow signs to the facility.

**Water Conditions & Character**
Enid Lake is a large impoundment on the Yocona River, a substantial waterway with an average flow of 1,259 cubic feet per second. Water levels are actively managed by the Corps of Engineers for flood control, typically lowered from July 1 through January 1. During the winter drawdown period, water levels may be significantly lower and some boat ramps become inoperable, though low-water ramps remain available. Before launching, check current water levels and spillway conditions by calling (662) 563-4571 or consulting the Vicksburg District Daily River Bulletin.

**Amenities & Information**
Persimmon Hill Campground offers eight campsites ($24/night), a beach, playground, and accessible facilities with flush toilets. The lake is recognized as one of America's top 10 fishing destinations, particularly for white crappie, bass, and catfish. Fifteen recreation areas ring the 44,000-acre lake complex, with picnic areas and additional day-use ramps available. For reservations or facility information, contact (662) 563-4571.
