About This Access Site
Esther Lake offers a public boat ramp for paddlers and boaters seeking access to this Cook County water body in northeastern Minnesota. The ramp accommodates typical recreational vessels, though specific size limitations should be confirmed before launching. There is no launch fee unless a vehicle permit is required. The access point also provides swimming opportunities and connects to nearby hiking trails in the area.

This location serves as a gateway to backcountry camping on Esther Lake. The lake features primitive campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Paddlers should note that camping sites include basic amenities such as fire grates and latrines, and all water must be treated or boiled before use. To reach the access site from Hovland, take the Arrowhead Trail north for 11 miles to Esther Lake Road, then turn west for 7 miles.
