About This Access Site
Eureka West Recreation Area offers a reliable single-lane boat ramp with fixed dock access to the Oklawaha River and Rodman Reservoir in northeast Marion County. Located approximately 4 miles east of Fort McCoy off County Route 316, this facility serves as an ideal launch point for kayakers and canoeists, with the ramp positioned at the divide between the natural river section upstream (south) and the impounded Rodman Reservoir (north). The site is generally more dependable than nearby alternatives like Orange Springs or Kenwood, where invasive aquatic vegetation can create navigation challenges.

The recreation area includes parking, a picnic pavilion, and an accessible fishing pier for those without boats. The boat ramp operates 24 hours, while the park grounds are open sunrise to sunset. Several campgrounds are located within 10 miles of the site, including Lake Delancy West, Lake Eaton, and Lake Shore Group Camp—all offering reservations through Recreation.gov for those planning overnight trips. Note that trail closures may occur seasonally in the surrounding area; check current conditions before visiting.
