About This Access Site
Eveland Access is a 56-acre multi-use recreation area located 4 miles southwest of Beacon near Oskaloosa at 2890 Galeston Avenue. The site features a concrete boat ramp considered one of the best in Mahaska County, providing direct access to the Des Moines River for paddlers, boaters, and anglers. The access point is conveniently located below the campground facilities, making it easy to launch kayaks and canoes.

The recreation area offers more than just water access—the 44-unit campground makes it a good base for multi-day paddling trips on the Des Moines River. Beyond boating, the site includes hiking trails and fishing opportunities, making it a well-rounded destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The facility's location directly adjacent to the river makes it an ideal put-in or take-out point for paddlers exploring this section of the Des Moines River in central Iowa.
