About This Access Site
The Mile 35 Rest Area North provides convenient public access to the Miami Canal and surrounding Everglades waterways along Interstate 75 in Broward County. This government-owned facility features four concrete boat launch lanes in good-to-excellent condition, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger recreational boats. The rest area includes 54 trailer parking spots, 22 vehicle spaces, and 2 handicap-accessible spots, with both launch and staging docks available.

This location serves as an excellent gateway for exploring the shallow, slow-moving waters of the Everglades ecosystem. Paddlers should expect typical Everglades conditions—calm waters ideal for kayaking and canoeing, with opportunities for wildlife viewing. The rest area's proximity to I-75 makes it highly accessible for day trips. The facility is maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation in partnership with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, ensuring reliable amenities and well-kept infrastructure for all visitors.
