About This Access Site
Fish Trap Marina, located at 4794 Bonita Beach Road in Bonita Springs, provides boat ramp access to Fish Trap Bay and the Imperial River system. This site offers a convenient launch point for kayakers and canoeists exploring the shallow, mangrove-lined waters of the Imperial River and its connection to Estero Bay. From the ramp, paddlers can navigate upstream through scenic residential areas or head downstream toward Fish Trap Bay, where routes split to access either Estero Bay to the north or Wiggins Pass to the south. The area is ideal for inshore paddling, fishing, and wildlife observation.

The Imperial River features relatively calm, protected waters typical of coastal southwest Florida estuaries, making it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels. From Fish Trap Marina, you'll have access to the nearby Matlacha Pass National Wildlife Refuge islands, which feature mangrove habitat and serve as important roosting areas. Daily parking is available for a small fee, with no overnight mooring permitted. Nearby alternatives include Lovers Key State Park and Mullock Creek Marina for additional access points in the Estero Bay system.
