Located in Willis, Montgomery County, the facility is maintained by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and can be easily reached by traveling west 10.5 miles on Texas 105 from Conroe. The ramps provide straightforward water entry for paddlers launching onto the West Fork San Jacinto River impoundment.

Lake Conroe is a large 20,118-acre reservoir with relatively stable water levels (typical fluctuation of 1-3 feet) and slight to moderate algal staining.
