Fishermans Road is a public boat access point on Lake Onalaska in La Crosse, Wisconsin, serving as a gateway to both the scenic lake and the Upper Mississippi River system. The ramp features a wide, concrete surface designed for easy launching and retrieval of kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. This location provides convenient access to Mississippi River Pool 7, nestled within the scenic Upper Mississippi River Valley between Trempealeau, WI and Dresbach, MN.
Paddlers should note that the Lake Onalaska Protection and Rehabilitation District maintains buoy-marked "travel corridors" cleared of aquatic vegetation to facilitate access from the boat landing to the main lake body. The area is known for having stumps and submerged obstacles, so caution is advised when navigating. The ramp offers direct access to the main upper Mississippi River channel, making it ideal for paddlers looking to explore either the calmer lake environment or venture into the larger river system. Additional nearby landings, including Moseys Landing (operated by Onalaska Township/USFWS), provide alternative access points in the area if needed.
