About This Access Site
Fishing Creek Recreation Area, located just west of Somerset on Lake Cumberland, offers a public boat ramp providing access to one of the largest man-made reservoirs east of the Mississippi River. The facility is situated at 1598 E. Highway 1248 (about 7 miles from Somerset via Highway 80 west, then right on East Highway 1248). The boat ramp provides convenient water access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to explore Fishing Creek and the broader Lake Cumberland system, which features over 1,200 miles of scenic shoreline.

The recreation area is part of a full-service campground with 26 RV sites and 20 tent-only sites, making it convenient for multi-day paddling trips. Onsite amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station. For more information or to reserve a campsite, contact the facility at 606-679-5174. The large, calm waters of Lake Cumberland make this an excellent put-in point for recreational paddling and fishing, though paddlers should be aware of recreational motorboat traffic on the lake.
