Flat Creek

Flat Creek provides access to Tuckertown Lake on the Yadkin River in Richfield, Rowan County. The Yadkin River is a major waterway with a drainage area of 4,163 square miles and an average flow of 5,225 cubic feet per second. At this location on the impounded lake section, water conditions are generally calm compared to the free-flowing river downstream. The site is situated in the lower portion of the Yadkin watershed, approximately 445 miles from the river mouth.

This access point on Tuckertown Lake is suitable for various boating activities including kayaking, canoeing, and motorized watercraft. The lake environment provides relatively stable water conditions compared to the river's average velocity of 5.71 feet per second. Paddlers and boaters should be aware that while the lake itself is calm, the Yadkin River proper has significant flow and a notable gradient of 16.1 feet per mile, which affects conditions in non-impounded sections downstream.
