The FM 1416 access point is located on the east side of Lake Quitman's dam near Quitman, Wood County, providing convenient launch access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. Lake Quitman is a 814-acre impoundment on Dry Creek, a tributary of the Sabine River, with a maximum depth of 25 feet, making it suitable for a variety of water activities. The ramp is situated off FM 1416 and CR 2966, approximately 5 miles north of Quitman.
This access site offers more than just a boat ramp—an adjacent privately operated marina provides additional amenities including RV sites, bait, gas, and food services, making it a full-service recreation hub. The calm, scenic reservoir environment offers good conditions for recreational paddling and fishing. Paddlers should note that as a lake environment, water conditions are generally more stable than river paddling, though weather conditions can affect water quality and safety.
