About This Access Site
Ford Lake Park, located at 5598 Ford Lake Park Drive in Ypsilanti Charter Township, offers a public boat and canoe launch on the Huron River's Ford Lake. This 98-acre park serves as Washtenaw County's primary access point for motorized and non-motorized watercraft on Ford Lake. The launch accommodates both kayakers and canoeists looking to explore the lake, as well as anglers targeting the diverse fish populations found here.

The park provides full amenities to support a day on the water, including restrooms, picnic areas with tables and grills, and shelters available for rent. Multiple recreational facilities are also available onsite, including trails, fishing areas, and open spaces ideal for a full day visit. Ford Lake supports a healthy fishery with species including northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, crappies, bluegill, and various catfish species, making it popular with fishing enthusiasts. The south bank location provides access to both the lake and the scenic Huron River corridor.

For current information about launch hours, fees, and specific conditions, contact the park directly at (734) 485-6880 or visit their website. Paddlers should note that motorized vessels are permitted on Ford Lake, so expect some boat traffic during peak seasons.
