About This Access Site
**Forest Lake** is a large, 2,251-acre recreational lake in Grand Rapids, offering convenient public access via this well-developed boat ramp on the south shore. The ramp is 28 feet wide and can accommodate up to 16 vehicles with trailers, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, motorboats, and sailboats. The lake is divided into three distinct basins, providing varied paddling opportunities across the water body.

**Important considerations:** Forest Lake has documented invasive species, including zebra mussels (discovered in 2015), Eurasian watermilfoil, and flowering rush. Before launching and before leaving, inspect your boat, trailer, and equipment for any visible plants or water, then drain all water completely. With three public access points on the lake, expect moderate to high recreational use, particularly during peak seasons.

The ramp provides good facilities including benches, seating, and a boat dock. **Pokegama Dam Campground** (reservable) is located within 10 miles if you're planning an overnight trip. Note that there are no public shore fishing areas on Forest Lake, so plan accordingly if fishing is part of your outing.
