About This Access Site
Forkland Boat Ramp provides access to McConnico Creek, a medium-sized headwater stream that flows into the Black Warrior River system. The ramp is located within the Forkland Campground, which is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The creek has a total length of 11.3 miles, a moderate gradient of 10.4 feet per mile, and an average flow of 40 cubic feet per second. This makes it a suitable waterway for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats. The ramp and adjacent day-use area are situated across from the campground gatehouse, providing easy access for both campers and day-users.

In addition to the boat ramp, the Forkland Campground offers 42 campsites, a hiking trail with scenic overlooks, and other recreational amenities. However, on-site amenities for paddlers are limited, so those planning a trip should come prepared with necessary gear and supplies. Overall, the Forkland Boat Ramp offers a convenient access point to explore the calm waters of McConnico Creek and the broader Black Warrior River system.
