About This Access Site
Fort Parker State Park offers two boat ramps providing access to both Fort Parker Lake and the Navasota River near Mexia. The park charges a $5 day-use fee per person (age 13+) and maintains office hours from 8:30am to 4:30pm daily. Note that the upper two-thirds of the reservoir is typically not navigable by boat due to heavy siltation from the muddy Navasota River, so plan your paddling accordingly.

Paddlers and boaters should be aware that Fort Parker Lake has become severely silted since its creation in 1935, which affects water depth and navigation in much of the impoundment. The ramp on Fort Parker Lake is generally the more reliable option for most boaters, while the river ramp provides access to flowing water for those seeking current-based paddling. Water conditions can vary seasonally, so it's wise to check current conditions with the park office before launching.
