The Fox Chain O'Lakes boat ramp in Antioch provides convenient access to one of Illinois' premier recreational waterways. This state-owned facility offers free launching with ample parking near the ramp and well-maintained facilities. The chain consists of eight interconnected lakes totaling over 8,600 acres, with the largest being Fox/Nippersink Lake (2,376.8 acres) and Pistakee Lake (1,715.7 acres), offering plenty of room for paddlers and boaters of all skill levels.
Kayakers and canoeists will find diverse paddling opportunities across multiple lakes connected by channels, making this ideal for both day trips and longer explorations. The water body supports a healthy fishery including bass, northern pike, walleye, and mussel, so expect moderate recreational boating traffic. Note that winter drawdown typically begins in November and concludes by December 1st, which may affect water levels and access conditions seasonally.
