The Fox Lake Fishery Area provides public boat access to Fox Lake and the Beaver Dam River system in Dodge County. This 2,713-acre lake offers a productive fishery with good populations of walleye, northern pike, panfish, and largemouth bass, making it popular with both anglers and recreational paddlers. The access point is located near the Fox Lake Dam area, where you can launch directly onto the main lake body.
Paddlers and boaters should be aware that Fox Lake has relatively low water clarity and a maximum depth of 19 feet. The water flows through Fox Lake Dam into Mill Creek and eventually to Beaver Dam Lake, creating a connected waterway system for longer paddling trips. The DNR maintains this public access area with parking available; however, some of the public parks around the lake (Clausen Park and Town Park) may charge launch fees. Plan your trip accordingly and check current conditions before heading out, especially if you're unfamiliar with dam operations in the area.
