Franconia Notch State Park

Echo Lake is a scenic 39-acre spring-fed lake located at 1,931 feet elevation in Franconia Notch State Park, offering stunning views of Mt. Lafayette and Cannon Mountain. This is an excellent destination for kayakers and canoeists looking for a scenic, protected paddling experience. The access point provides cart-top boat launching, and the clear, cool water is ideal for leisurely exploration. The Lakeside General Store offers kayak, canoe, and pedal boat rentals for those without their own equipment.

The lake is well-suited for paddlers of all skill levels due to its calm waters and scenic surroundings. In addition to paddling, visitors can enjoy fishing and swimming from the sandy beach area. Parking is available on-site with no fee. Note that rental boats have limited availability close to park closing time—plan accordingly if renting. Franconia Brook Tentsite is located on the Eastside trail, on the East side of the Pemigewasset River, 3 miles in from the Lincoln Woods trailhead. When possible, please use the bear box instead of hanging food.  Please note: the bear box does become full quickly, so plan accordingly and bring rope as a precaution.
