About This Access Site
The Gardiner boat ramp provides the only public access to Discovery Bay and is located just north of Highway 101, about 12 miles east of Sequim. The facility features a concrete boat ramp, portable restroom, and gravel parking for approximately five vehicles. Paddlers should note that the ramp will be closed from July 14 through October 3, 2025, for construction and infrastructure improvements.

Discovery Bay offers excellent paddling opportunities for kayakers and canoeists, particularly along the northern end of the bay where you can explore Diamond Point, Cape George, and Beckett Point. A minimum water level of 4 feet is needed to paddle the head of Discovery Bay. From Gardiner, Protection Island National Wildlife Refuge and Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge are accessible by water, providing opportunities to observe diverse bird species. Please respect posted signs regarding beach access restrictions and park as far east in the lot as possible to allow adequate maneuvering space for other launching boats.
