About This Access Site
George Wyth State Park in Waterloo offers a convenient boat ramp providing access to George Wyth Lake, a 60-acre impoundment ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. The ramp is located within the state park, which features full amenities including a beach area, picnic facilities, and a playground. The lake permits electric motors only, making it a relatively quiet paddling environment well-suited for recreational kayakers and canoeists.

The park provides excellent support facilities for a day trip or extended visit, with both tent and RV camping available (up to 60 feet). Three universally accessible fishing jetties around the lake offer alternative water access points and scenic paddling destinations. The lake supports a healthy fishery including crappie, bluegill, walleye, and bass, so you may encounter anglers while paddling. Plan to arrive during daylight hours and note that George Wyth State Park also has nearby river access off Wyth Road for those interested in paddling moving water.
