About This Access Site
Glade Creek Campground offers a convenient boat ramp for accessing the New River, one of North America's oldest and most scenic waterways. Located near Prince, WV, at the end of Glade Creek Road (6 miles off Route 41), this primitive facility provides free, first-come, first-served access with a small boat launch, picnic area, and sandy beach suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and small boats. The campground operates year-round and features both walk-in tent sites and drive-in RV/tent sites, making it an ideal base for multi-day paddling trips.

Paddlers should note that Glade Creek is a primitive facility with vault toilets but no potable water, electric hookups, or dump station. RVs are limited to small vehicles (under 25 feet). The New River here flows through spectacular gorges and canyons within New River Gorge National Park & Preserve, offering whitewater paddling opportunities and excellent fishing and swimming. The campground rarely fills up in summer and offers a quieter alternative to more developed facilities in the area—just 4-10 miles from several other campground options if needed.
