About This Access Site
The Glen Lyn boat ramp provides public access to the New River in Giles County, Virginia. As a major headwater stream, the New River is a large and powerful waterway, flowing over 800 miles to the ocean. With an average gradient of 6.3 feet per mile and an average flow of over 12,000 cubic feet per second, paddlers and boaters should exercise caution when accessing this section of the river.

The concrete boat ramp is located within the Glen Lyn Town Park, offering easy access to the river. This site is a popular put-in point, with the Gentry's Landing Campground located nearby. For those looking to float the New River, other access points include the Lurich Road access downstream of Narrows Falls and the Rich Creek ramp about a mile further. Boaters and paddlers should consult a float guide or map to plan their trips accordingly.
