**Facilities & Access**
Grand Ecore Recreation Area, located on Tauzin Island Road just west of the Red River Grand Ecore Bridge in Natchitoches, offers a well-developed launch facility featuring a 3-lane boat ramp, 100 paved parking spaces, and restrooms. The area includes a 300-foot floating dock with 8 boat slips, making it convenient for day trips or overnight moorings. The facility was developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and provides dependable access to the Red River.

The Red River is a major waterway (Stream Order 9) with substantial flow averaging 68,238 cubic feet per second and current velocities around 5.9 feet per second. The river's gradient is relatively gentle at 1.6 feet per mile, making it suitable for kayakers and canoeists, though boaters should respect the consistent current. Water levels fluctuate seasonally; the Red River Waterway Commission monitors conditions, and boat ramps may close when levels reach 21 feet with predicted continued rise.
