Grant River Recreation Area

Located 2 miles south of Potosi, Wisconsin off Highway 133, Grant River Recreation Area provides boat ramp access to the Upper Mississippi River (Pools 11-22). The facility is a modern campground with 63 RV sites with electrical service, tent camping, shower facilities, and a dump station. The Mississippi River at this location is a major waterway with an average flow of 685,352 cubic feet per second and an average velocity of 11.24 feet/second. The ramp provides access to this substantial river system, but paddlers and boaters should be aware that conditions vary seasonally. Water levels can drop significantly, and aquatic vegetation growth (particularly in summer) may challenge larger vessels. Spring is generally the best time for boating when water levels are higher and vegetation is minimal. Kayakers and canoeists will find favorable conditions during high-water periods, while those with larger boats should plan their visits accordingly.

Other species include bluegill, walleye, crappie, northern pike and bass. Best to try your luck in the spring before the rice field grows up.
There is boat ramp access within the campground, but can be chalenging for larger vessels as water levels drop and aquatic vegetation grows up.

Picnic shelter and a playgrounds create an ideal environment for a small party or family get-together. Both tent and RV sites are available, and amenities like showers, drinking water and flush toilets offer a comfortable camping experience.Natural Features
