About This Access Site
Grassy Pond is a boat ramp located within the Sloughs Wildlife Management Area, approximately 10 miles west of Henderson, Kentucky. This expansive 10,000-acre WMA is a premier destination for paddlers and boaters, featuring 12 boat ramps distributed across multiple water bodies including Grassy Pond, Honey Cypress, Middle Slough, Fronts Slough, and Pond Creek. The area is renowned for waterfowl, hosting up to 40,000 geese and 30,000 ducks annually, making it ideal for wildlife viewing during paddling trips.

**Access and Conditions:** The WMA can be accessed via two routes near Smith Mills—west access off KY-136 on Martin-Martin Road or east access off Mill Street. Important note: Ohio River levels should be monitored closely, as water levels exceeding 30 feet at the J.T. Meyer gauge can impact road access to certain areas. Paddlers should contact the Sloughs WMA office for current river conditions before planning trips, particularly if accessing Highland Creek or the Powell's Lake units. The area is jointly managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

**Additional Amenities:** Lake Mauzy, an 80-acre lake within the WMA, offers bank fishing access, a launching ramp, picnic areas, and designated camping sites for those planning multi-day trips.
