Grey Owl is a state fishing access site located on the Yellowstone River near Emigrant in Park County, Montana. This day-use-only facility offers a boat launch and restroom facilities, making it a convenient access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The site is situated approximately two miles downstream from the Point of Rocks/Emigrant access, making it ideal for shorter float trips on this section of the river.
To reach Grey Owl, take East River Road north from Emigrant to Chicory Road, which becomes River Drive. The route is signed from East River Road. The Yellowstone River at this location is a moderate-sized, flowing waterway popular with anglers and recreational paddlers. Water levels can affect paddling conditions, particularly during lower water periods when floats may feel lengthy. This access point serves as a good take-out for shorter floats originating upstream or as a launch point for continuing downstream toward other access sites like Loch Leven or Pine Creek.
