About This Access Site
The Guana River Recreation Area boat ramp, located north of Vilano on scenic A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach, provides free public access to the Guana River and Guana Lake (Lake Ponte Vedra). This site is part of the GTM National Estuarine Research Reserve and offers paddlers and boaters excellent opportunities to explore both the river and lake systems. The ramp is easily accessible from the A1A corridor, making it convenient for day trips and recreational outings.

Paddlers should be aware of a few key details: Guana Lake has a 10-horsepower maximum engine limit, making it ideal for kayaks and canoes. Water levels can affect accessibility, so check conditions before launching. Note that Six Mile Landing, an alternative launch point on A1A, is closed seasonally (November 10–February 10), and boats launched from the dam during winter months may not travel more than two miles north. Paddlers can explore routes running both north and south along Lake Ponte Vedra, offering varied exploration opportunities within this scenic estuarine environment.
