About This Access Site
This dedicated boat ramp at the west end of Okaloosa Beach provides convenient access to Choctawhatchee Bay and is specifically designed for launching canoes, kayaks, and other hand-paddled watercraft. Located within Gulf Islands National Seashore and managed by the National Park Service, the facility includes a parking lot and is situated near the mouth of Santa Rosa Sound, offering paddlers excellent access to these shallow coastal waters.

The site features amenities including picnic tables and outdoor showers, making it suitable for a full day of paddling or recreation. Choctawhatchee Bay is a calm, shallow bay ideal for kayakers and canoeists of varying skill levels. From this launch point, paddlers can explore the protected waters of the sound and bay system, making it a good basecamp for exploring the Gulf Islands area.
