About This Access Site
Located in the Sylvan Bay Summer Home Area near Pinedale, Wyoming, the Halfmoon Lake boat ramp provides convenient access to this scenic alpine lake at 7,400 feet elevation. The ramp features a paved surface extended with riprap to accommodate seasonal water level fluctuations, along with a short dock for loading and unloading. A gravel parking lot serves both day-use and overnight visitors, with vault toilets and picnic facilities nearby.

The lake offers excellent opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for lake, rainbow, and brown trout. Paddlers interested in exploring further can venture toward the northeast corner where Pole Creek flows down from Fayette Lake via a small waterfall—note that crossing the stream requires wading or careful navigation. The surrounding area provides access to several rugged trails leading into the high country and Bridger Wilderness. From Pinedale, take US Highway 191 south for approximately 1 mile, then turn left onto Fayette/Pole Creek Road (County Road 121) to reach the access site. For detailed information about trails and conditions, contact the Pinedale Ranger District office at 307-367-4326.
