About This Access Site
Ham Creek Park is a well-developed recreation area offering boat access to the Brazos River in Johnson County, Texas. The facility features a newly constructed boat ramp that enhances launching ease, though paddlers and boaters should be aware that water levels fluctuate seasonally and can drop significantly during low-water periods. The park is located approximately 8 miles west of Rio Vista on FM 916 (accessible from Texas 174).

Beyond boat access, Ham Creek Park provides extensive day-use amenities including 23 picnic shelters, event pavilions with electricity, bathroom facilities with showers, and both primitive and RV camping options. The Brazos River in this area supports excellent fishing opportunities for bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish. Wildlife viewing is also popular, with white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, bobcats, foxes, and numerous bird species inhabiting the area.

**Planning tip:** Contact the park directly or check current water conditions before visiting, as water level fluctuations can affect ramp usability. The park has two boat ramps available, giving paddlers and boaters options for launch and landing.
