About This Access Site
Located in Mount Pleasant off Leeds Avenue, Harry M. Hallman, Jr. Landing provides convenient access to Shem Creek with well-maintained facilities. The Charleston County-managed ramp features two launching lanes, a courtesy dock, and ample parking for 30-50 boat trailers. This makes it an excellent starting point for kayakers and canoeists exploring the creek system, as well as larger motorboats.

Paddlers should be aware that tidal conditions significantly affect water levels and accessibility at this location. Low tide can create serious drop-offs at the ramp, so planning your launch around favorable tidal conditions is important. The site includes a fishing area and picnic facilities, making it a good spot for a full day of recreation. Note that Shem Creek has a life preserver (PFD) loaner program available, which is particularly helpful for casual visitors.

The landing sits within the culturally rich Lowcountry, near the Gullah/Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor and Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, offering paddlers opportunities to explore both natural waterways and significant historical areas during their visit.
