Harts Lake is a 112-acre freshwater lake in Roy, Pierce County, offering public boat access via a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) maintained launch on the northeast shore, accessible off Templin Road S via Harts Lake Road S. The access area includes a boat ramp and toilet facilities, making it a convenient launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. **Note:** A 5 mph speed limit applies on the lake, making it ideal for paddle craft and small boats.
Before launching, be aware that while the lake reaches depths of 40 feet, it becomes shallow quickly and features significant aquatic vegetation. Submerged rocks near the boat launch area require caution during entry and exit. The lake supports healthy populations of largemouth bass, yellow perch, black crappie, catfish, and bluegill, making it popular with anglers. Limited bank access is available at the public access area, though a boat provides better exploration of the full lake.
