Harvey Gap State Park offers a boat ramp and access to Grass Valley Reservoir, a scenic high-altitude lake located in western Colorado. The boat ramp is situated on the east side of the reservoir, providing easy launching for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats.
Boating on the reservoir is restricted to craft with motors 20 horsepower or less. The lake is closed to all boating from November 1 to March 31 annually. Visitors should bring their own life jackets, as they are required for all passengers. Swimming is permitted in designated no-wake zones on the southwest side of the lake, accessed from County Road 237.
While the boat ramp provides access to the reservoir, anglers should note that the park's fishing regulations have changed in recent years. Motorized boats are now prohibited, so the lake is primarily used for non-motorized activities like paddleboarding, sailing, and kayaking. Those seeking a more traditional boating experience may want to consider nearby Rifle Gap State Park as an alternative.
