About This Access Site
The Hatchery Boat Ramp provides convenient access to Lake Moultrie via SC Highway 6, approximately 8 miles northwest of Moncks Corner in Berkeley County. This concrete ramp features two lanes and an adjacent dock, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The facility offers scenic views and is a popular spot for fishing and recreational paddling.

Paddlers should be aware of lake conditions before launching. Lake Moultrie contains numerous submerged tree stumps, particularly in shallow water along gently sloping shorelines, so navigate cautiously and stay alert. The Hatchery section of the lake—a 900-acre area originally designed as a separate impoundment—features significant aquatic vegetation and backwater sloughs that provide good habitat for bass and panfish but may present navigation challenges for larger boats. Swimming and allowing dogs in the water is not recommended at this access point.
