Hay Lake is a 140-acre lake in Carlton County, Minnesota, offering public boat access via a dedicated boat ramp. The lake has a maximum depth of 14 feet, making it suitable for recreational paddling and motorized boating. This is a popular destination for anglers targeting panfish, crappie, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleye, though paddlers and sightseers are equally welcome.
**Important Note:** The Lower Hay Lake public access site is currently closed for improvements until August 29, 2025. During this renovation project, a new retaining wall, expanded parking, paved surface, upgraded ramp, and boat wash area are being installed. Plan accordingly and check locally for any alternative access points or updated opening dates before your visit.
