About This Access Site
Heidecke Lake offers a well-maintained three-lane concrete boat ramp with excellent facilities for paddlers and boaters. The access site features over 100 parking spaces with dedicated trailer parking, fully paved lot, and handicapped-accessible launch facilities. Vault toilets and accessible parking are available at the ramp, along with paved access to the docks, making this a convenient option for kayakers, canoeists, and larger watercraft.

**Important conditions to note:** The lake is subject to wind closures—boat access is prohibited when wind speeds are forecast to reach 25 mph or greater, as these conditions can create dangerous wave conditions. Zebra mussels have been documented in Heidecke Lake, so inspect and clean your watercraft accordingly. The lake is best suited for boats 14 feet and larger due to its characteristics. A separate bank fishing area is available if lake conditions force a closure of the boat ramp.

Located in Morris, Grundy County near the expansive Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, this access point serves as a gateway to paddling on Heidecke Lake while offering easy access to the region's significant natural areas and outdoor recreation opportunities.
