Heller Bar is a public boat ramp located on the Snake River in southeastern Asotin County, Washington, positioned at the mouth of the Grand Ronde River. This site serves as the first road-accessible launch point approximately 20 miles downstream of the Salmon-Snake confluence. The access area includes a concrete boat ramp, potable water availability, restroom facilities, and a developed campground, making it a practical staging area for multi-day river trips.
The Snake River at this location is a major waterway with significant flow (averaging nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second) and a moderate gradient of about 15.8 feet per mile. Boaters and paddlers should be prepared for swift current and substantial water volume. Heller Bar provides convenient access for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats into this powerful section of river. Note that maintenance work may occasionally close portions of the access area; check current conditions before visiting to confirm the ramp and facilities are open.
