Hickory Flats at Tenkiller State Park

Hickory Flats provides boat ramp access to Tenkiller Ferry Lake, a scenic reservoir on the Illinois River in the foothills of eastern Oklahoma. The ramp is located within Tenkiller State Park and includes a courtesy dock and nearby camping facilities. The Illinois River is a major waterway (Stream Order 9) with an average flow of approximately 27,210 cubic feet per second and a gentle gradient of 0.3 feet per mile, making it generally suitable for paddlers of varying skill levels. Tenkiller Ferry Lake itself offers calmer conditions than the flowing river sections, ideal for recreational paddling. The lake features additional amenities including a swimming beach at Hickory Flats and dive sites if you're interested in exploring underwater historical remains from the area before the lake was formed.

Tenkiller State Park offers multiple campgrounds throughout the area, including primitive sites at Hickory Flats (accessible one mile west on Pine Cove Road) with tent sites and RV facilities.
