About This Access Site
High Lake in Vilas County offers a public boat landing for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. This 741-acre lake features moderately clear water with a maximum depth of 36 feet, making it suitable for various paddling skill levels and fishing activities. The lake supports a healthy fishery including musky, panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleye.

The access site is located near the Moosehead Lake Camp area in the Land O' Lakes region. If you're planning an extended trip, two campgrounds are available within 10 miles—Moosehead Lake Camp and Pomeroy Lake Camp—both offering reservable campsites. The Moosehead Lake Camp operates on a first-come, first-served basis with the option to pay via the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature once you've arrived on-site.
