About This Access Site
Located in Ennis, this access point provides convenient entry to the upper Waxahachie Creek arm of Bardwell Lake. To reach the site, take Texas Highway 34 south from Ennis and turn right onto an unpaved road approximately 3/4 mile past the highway bridge. The facility features two 4-lane boat ramps with parking for 40 vehicles, making it suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and larger boats alike. A courtesy dock is available at the lower ramp for easy loading and unloading.

The access point sits near the mouth of a main tributary in the upper reaches of Bardwell Lake, an impoundment built in 1965 for flood control by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The ramps are suitable for all boat types at normal lake level, offering paddlers straightforward access to explore the scenic Blackland Prairie region of Ellis County. Note that the state public ramp at Lake Bardwell is currently closed, making this Highway 34 Bridge location one of the available alternatives for water access in the area.
